Description

Cross the road from Talbot Pub and bear left until you reach the lane with the wooden signpost to Child Okeford and Wigmore(1).
Follow the lane past Trout Farm on the left and the sewage works, and when the lane opens into a field, keep going along the track in the direction indicated by a yellow circular marker(2).
Cross the field until you reach the break in the hedges and then turn left.
Walk around the edge of two fields until you reach Solar Farm - the yellow way marker is all but buried beside the gate.
Turn left through the open gate and walk down the edge of Solar Farm - there are cautionary signs of risk to life.
At the lane turn left along the gravelled lane to Park Farm.
Walk through the farmyard on the track keeping the buildings to your left. At the top of the slope turn right away from the farm onto the tarmac road(3).
At the junction turn left onto the tarmac road into Bessels until you see a gate on the left with a green footpath sign.
Go through the gate, follow along the edge of two cultivated fields, turn left and walk along the edge of the field to the junction with the track.
Take the right-hand path for a short distance until you reach the start of a sunken lane (just passable after wet weather but overgrown) (It may be possible to walk along the edge of the adjoining fields)(4)
Go through the gate at the end of the track and continue past Oyles Mill and across the stream.
Take the left-hand path signed to Stud Farm (look out for alpacas in the field!) and follow through the gate to the right until you reach the A350.
After crossing the A350, a track uphill is no longer public right of way but can be walked.
Follow to the point where the road turns away to the right and take the footpath downhill through some trees into an open field(5)
Follow the track to the recreation ground and the junction with Watery Lane(6)
Turn left into Watery Lane and follow to Talbot Pub.

Useful Information

Iwerne Minster has a shop with a cafe, turn into the village from Talbot pub.
If walking after even slight wet weather be prepared for the state of the sunken lane and the need to clear vegetation and watch out for water lying in the path.
Yellow circular Dorset CC markers for the paths are rare.
