The ruins of Saint Jean de Rouzigues

Description

Park in the car park of Caesar's Camp (Camp de César), located 1km away on the heights of Laudun, on the extension of the Rue Frédéric Sauvage.

From the car park, go towards the hiking signpost, take the asphalt road that descends to the right of the barrier in the direction of Ruin de Saint Jean de Rouzigues. A few metres further on, the yellow markings go off to the left on a path through the pines(1).
The trail will take you through the pines occasionally following the track to the left, then rejoin it at the signpost Le Haut Puget. (2) Turn left on the track between the vines in the direction of Ruine de Saint Jean de Rouzigues.
At the end of the vine, the markings leave the track and go left before climbing quickly to the right in the forest. After about 30 meters, a crossroads will take you directly up to the plateau on a steep path which joins the Pas du Loup. Leave this path and continue straight on, flat, in the direction of Combe de Roubaud.
Once at the crossroads Combe de Roubaud(3) The trail turns left in the direction of Ruine de Saint Jean de Rouzigues. The trail climbs sharply, with the occasional stone steps, reaching the plateau by ruins of Saint Jean de Rouzigues_.
Continue straight along the markings in the direction of the Camp de César to get to the signpost Passage due Loup, 200 metres further on. There are two ways of get back to Caesar's camp: turn right via the Interior, or left via the cliffs.
Go left, pass in front of the statue of a Vestal Virgin and reach the edge of the cliffs, with beautiful views of the Rhone valley. The markings will follow these cliffs. Pass the wooden belvedere on the edge of the precipice, then start along a small descent to circumvent the old ramparts and go back up further on to get to the site.
Descend a few meters to rejoin the signpost Camp de César at the entrance of the site(4).
Take advantage of different locations, visiting the different vestiges explained by the signs, then return to the panel you have just been to.
(4) Take the track that goes down towards the Camp de César car park via the botanical path.
