Holzarté footbridge

A circuit a dozen or so kilometres long in a green area among forests, streams and waterfalls.
And especially crossing the Holzarté bridge which is the headline event of this quite demanding hike. If it is too physically demanding, you can turn around once you have seen the bridge.

Holzarté footbridge

Description

The start point is at the Logibar hostel on the side of the D26. A large car park means you can leave your car here. You can try to go a little further with your vehicle because there is another car park behind the same hostel. From there, you are at the starting point.

(S) Follow the signs for the Holzarté footbridge. This is very well indicated, this site is well known and very busy in summer. Go straight up the stairs and this unique sloping path up to this gateway.
The view is already beautiful but the bridge is only visible at the last moment when you are very close (1).

Cross the bridge if you are not afraid of heights. Once you have crossed the gorges, return to the route by the only road that winds through the forest and raises the heart rate with its changes in altitude.

The route then leads to an intersection of paths where you will have to turn left (see photo of the sign) towards Olhadubi (2).

The area is very green, with waterfalls and streams, and you will have views over the gorge for several kilometres.

(3) We cross a small wooden bridge in the direction of Fontabarria and the GR10 which we will come back to later.
Again, it is all signposted and there is only one path. As the route is on hillsides bring a hat to protect you from the strong sun in the summer.

(4) The junction point with the GR10 is near the Cayolar d’Ardakhotchia. You are at the highest point of this hike. Enjoy the view.

The return route is by the GR10 to the car park at the start. The track is very wide at first, then after a few kilometres you turn left following the GR10 and signs for Logibaria (5).

The descent is continuous and very tiring for your feet and knees. Descend with caution, especially in the forest, because some passages are dangerous in wet weather.

Once back at the car park, the stream awaits to go to cool off your feet and the hostel welcomes hikers.

Good walk live here and now completed with friend
5 to 6 hours Pushing it I am 72 and have always been a slow walker
Water table a problem even at 33 degrees dry and sunny there was water coming down going up to the rock ascent to the gorge. Muddy pools further on ascent and decent.
Trees going through forest area on decent a hazard in High winds
A great walk chosen in right conditions

Excellent walk with interesting suspension bridge across a very deep gorge. The eastern section of the walk which descends to the carpark has changed.
