Starting at Lanthwaite Farm carpark. That's where the 77 / 77A bus from Keswick stops as well.
(S) Cross the road and follow the faint path towards Whin Ben and cross the footbridge
(1) Ignore the path heading along the Liza Beck but continue a fainter but still well-defined path upwards to the plateau of Whin Ben.
(2) Don't forget to turn around every now and then to take in the emerging views over Crummock Water and the Loweswater Fells. Continue on the path which leads through heather and after a turn heads up as a little scramble. Gasgale Gill and Grasmoor to your right look spectacular and give a proper meaning to scale in the Lakes. The path eases off eventually and you reach the top of Whiteside
(3) The path to Hopegill Head leads along the top of Gasgale Crags with spectacular views of Gasgale Gill to the right and Cockermouth, Maryport and Scotland across the Solway.
(4) Take a breather on top of Hopegill Head and enjoy the views around you before heading towards Sand Hill and Coledale Hause.
(5) When at Coledale Hause, cross the main path and head straight up the scree path. It looks worse than it is but is still quite steep and not for the faint hearted and also involves another scramble to the top of Eel Crag. From there, it is straight forward up the spine of Crag Hill to the summit cairn opening up the vistas across to the Skiddaw Range and Keswick.
(6) Follow along the top of the crags and a well-defined path onto Sail.
(7) Take the main well-defined path off Sail towards Scar Crags and Causy Pike and turn off at the hause onto another partly pitched path. Follow this path to High Moss and a small cairn on the left indicates the turn off for Outerside.
(8) A short way across grassy and boggy ground and then you head up the spine of Outerside. Follow this narrow path through the heather to the top and down the spine on the other side, take in the small bump that is Low Moss and the path leads you to Barrow Door.
(9) Head across ignoring all the other paths meeting here and head up Barrow.
(10) From there, it is a steady down along the spine of Barrow along a mostly grassy path. At the bottom head through a gate at Braithwaite Lodge.
(11) Walk along the tarmac drive with pastures on the left and right onto Braithwaite's Newlands Road and find the the bus stop for your way back to Keswick or where ever you are headed to.
