The Bois de Bombon woods

Bombon is not only a church and a typical village in Plateau Briard but also a castle, and the holiday destination in 1909 for an emigrant known as Vladimir-Ilyich Ulyanov, or Lenin.

Description

Start out at the Salle des Fêtes next to the town hall.

(S/E) Walk up Rue de la Brise Mur, then at the fork, take the road to the right. At the end of the road, turn right onto Route de la Voie Blanche. Cross Rue de la Tour (D29), go through the hamlet of Bois de la Croix and continue past the cemetery.

(1) At the stud at La Claye, take the dirt track to the left towards Bois de Bombon. Continue on the path through the forest, then take the second track to the left, cross the Ru de la Vacherie and carry on until you reach a crossing.

(2) Turn left and then go straight on until you reach another crossing, then take the path to the right. Ignore any paths off to the right or left and keep going until you come out of the woods, then carry on down Chemin Rural du Feuillet at the farm of the same name.

(3) At the corner, turn left and follow the path for about 1km, passing under the power lines, until you reach a crossroads.

(4) Take the path to the left which takes you back towards Bois de Bombon. Keep going straight on until you reach the D29, and then take the D29 to the left.

(5) Take an immediate right onto the path through the forest.

(6) Turn down the first path on the left. Keep walking straight on, through the hamlet of Tuilerie, and eventually you will come out on Rue du Monceau.

(7) Turn left onto Rue du Monceau and then continue down Rue de la Mairie, ignoring any roads off to the left or right, and keep going until you get back to the starting point (S/E).

Useful Information

It is advisable to wear walking boots.
There is no water source along the route, so bring enough water bottles or flasks with you for the whole journey.
There are only natural shelters once you have left the villages, and there are not many of them.
A hat or cap would be a good idea in very sunny weather and sun cream too.

Always stay careful and alert while following a route. Visorando and the author of this walk cannot be held responsible in the event of an accident during this route.
