Description

Park at the entrance of Bauduen, in a large car park.

(S/F) From the car park, go up Rue Grande, then right along Montée Saint Sauveur. Take the second road on the left, Chemin du Défends, and then the first right and follow it for about 3 km (just after marker 643).
This road starts out covered in asphalt and becomes stony (fine gravel). There is a gradual rise and the elevation is 160 m. This will be nearly the highest point of the course.
On a part of this first segment there is a beautiful view of the bottom of Bauduen cove.

(1) At the intersection turn left on the path that and follow it easily staying on the main road to marker 652 where there is a beautiful view of Lake Sainte-Croix.

(2) The return follows a small trail that is intermittently marked with an arrow or Blue paint. Along this stretch there is a view of the north-west part of Lake Sainte-Croix, the village of Sainte-Croix-du-Verdon and the dam on the Verdon.

(3) At a junction, the path joins Sentier du Veris, cross it. A stone pile with a cairn on the left mark this crossing. Our trail ends on Chemin Sainte-Anne le Chelnei.

(4) Take the left, passing by two streets on the left and reach Rue du Cours that extends onto Grand Rue and returns to the car park (S/F).

We found the instructions very poor on the first part of this walk, in fact so poor we found ourselves doing a walk that was twice as long, a good job we are fairly fit

This is confusing:
(3) At a junction, the path joins Sentier du Veris, cross it. A stone pile with a cairn on the left mark this crossing. Our trail ends on Chemin Sainte-Anne le Chelnei.

You don't actually cross Sentier du Veris, but instead turn left on it and carefully follow the blue markers (sometimes few and far between) for about 3k, and then take a sharp right down a path (with an orange arrow, alongside a stone wall) instead of following a red arrow straight ahead.

Our group of 5 from the Netherlands and Russia: parents in law (both 78, good health), our daughter of 10 and my wife and me (54). Ideal conditions: No clouds, no wind, 12 C. This is a beautiful and worthwile walk with plenty of variation: the village, olive groves, views of the boats in the Bauduen cove, interesting vegetation, and later on in the walk some grand views of lake St Croix. We found the description mostly accurate, except at the start of the walk. Still only some 25 meters from the car park, we couldn't find the montee du Lavoir. We decided to enter the village and find our own way up through a different "montee". The village is really lovely and quiet in December (we saw more cats than people) but we did get a bit lost. In the end we found the correct road exiting the village. The trick is not to exit the village half way up, which will lead you down again to the level of the main road. In stead one needs to find the upper road a bit higher up in the village, which cannot be seen from lower down and which runs directly above the olive groves bordering the village. Apart from this short but lovely excursion through the village, everything went smoothly. During the walk we only met two small groups and a single person. Peaceful and friendly walk. Relatively easy. Highly recommended for families.
