Description
Leave Refuge Quintino Sella (1) walking along Lac du Viso heading towards Col Gallarino.
(2) Steer right and keep heading west through Col Chiaffredo. This part is entirely on scree, then head down to Vallée de Varaita passing nearby lakes. Go through the pine forest.
(3) Cross the torrent and head north towards Refuge Vallanta.
(4) At the next crossing, keep going straight: it's a long climb. You're very close to the north-west slope of Monte Viso. The panoramic view of the valley is outstanding.
(5) Stop off at Refuge Vallanta on the other side of a lake. You might get the chance to catch a glimpse of ibex and marmots. You have now reached the other side of Monte Viso.
