Trek around Monte Viso day 4: Refuge Vallanta - L'Echalp
This stage involves a pass with neves and crossing Refuge du Viso high berm then Guil valley.
Description
Begin at Refuge Vallanta (1).
Climb leading to Col de Vallanta 2811 m (2). It's a steep climb but with a stunning view of Monte Viso. After crossing several neves, head down through the scree towards Refuge du Viso. The high berm is a beautiful valley with a view of Monte Viso, Col Sellière which you climbed two days ago and you can also make out Col de la Traversette.
At a crossing (3), shortly after having passed the refuge, take a left leading to "petit belvédère du Viso" then the Roche Écroulée.
Next follow the forest trail or the path leading to Echalp hamlet (4) through Guil valley.

Useful Information
There are many neves on Col Vallanta. It may be a good idea to bring traction cleats if you're doing the hike early in the season.
