Description

Start : Champ de Foire square (the fairground square), at the bottom of the signpost, located at the corner of Rue du Petit Pont and the cemetery.

(S/E) From Champ de Foire, walk up Rue du Petit Pont, heading up to the village centre. When you arrive in front of the church, turn slightly left to go up Rue du Couvent, you will reach the tennis court, walking alongside the new cemetery on the left. Go along the well-shaded path.

(1) At the ford, leave the river Vrille on your right to head up North until you reach the paved road, which you take to the left.

(2) Take it from the left. About 300m after, just after a path on your left (in the walking way), go to the right. Go along a field then hedges on both side to cross a road.

(3) Go straight to take the path in front of you. Climb quietly and join the forst houses of Les Perriers.

(4) At the crossroad, go on the right and at the exit of the hamlet, leave the tar going straight to a dirt road.

(5) Cross the road and go on the right staying on the tar road going on the left (the path facing you is private). Go straight, with caution at the crossroads with road D66.

(6) Turn on the right and keep this main path that goes to the étang de Chassin.

(7) Cross the road (D955) carefuly then climp the path and join the road (D66).

(8) Go left to wlak above 200 meters. Leave this path to fork the very first small dirt and sand path on the left.

(9) At the end of this path, the footbridge will allow you to cross the marsh and the old reach of Moulin Cognot. Go up between the houses. At the crossroads with D955, cross carefuly and take the opposite path. It arrives at Guénerie.

(10) Take right, the path that will bring you to Crot Maçon. Keep going straight, leaving all others path on right and left.

(11) At the crossroads of 5 paths -including a fairly wide forest path-, choose the forest path by turning slightly to the left (South-West direction).

(12) At the end of this forest path, for the last part, go down to the left. The road is quite shaded, forming in places a beautiful canopy of trees ; leave on both sides the localities les Pautrats, Bourg sans Paille, les Martins. (S/E)

Useful Information

Start : Start from the square of Champ de Foire (the fairground square), at the bottom of the signpost, located at the corner of Rue du Petit Pont and the cemetery.

Parking : There are carparks and a parking area for camper vans 80m away.

Note : Cross the road D955 twice, careful with the traffic. The passage over the mars was made by volunteer hikers. This part of the course is also inhabited by a large fauna including mosquitoes, so, get your repellents. This trail is part of the registered hikes at the PDIPR of Yonne.

This trail is offered by the Tourist Office of Puisaye-Forterre__ If you have encountered a difficulty (obstacle, lack of sign, lack of maintenance…), please tell us. It is marked with directional signs and bears N°24.

During the walk or to do/see around

At point (13), depending on the season, you can follow the walkway of Ratilly castle https://www.chateauderatilly.fr/ and even visit it.

The village of Treigny is well worth the visit as is the potters village of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye.

Accomodation (youth hostel, bed and breakfasts, and even holiday cottages) and cafés and restaurants are found in the village.

Springs, fountains and wash houses

Marked hike N°7.
This hike is themed by springs and wash-houses. The water flowing from the springs supplies the groundwater of the Parisian Basin on the one hand, and the Seine by way of the Loing River on the other hand. It’s a very well-marked path (#7), through an unspoiled natural environment. This track can also be done on horseback or mountain bike. It is listed on the departmental walking and hiking map (PDIPR) established by the department of the Yonne.

You will see no less than 8 fountains and 6 wash-houses on this rather easy hike, ideal for family walks. A few picnics spots are available here and there, to take a break and enjoy a relaxing moment (Fountain of the Moon, of the Pisserotte .....) Even though there are some hills along the way, it is a very pleasant walk with a lot of historical heritage spots to be discovered.
Also good for mountain biking.

This trail, dedicated to Colette, was opened in 1993 by the pupils of the Colette college of Saint-Sauveur en Puisaye. Along this trail, everything recalls the works of this author, born in Saint-Sauveur en Puisaye in 1873. The author has described her birthplace so well - that even though she has given other names to the villages and characters, you can sense her literature at every corner.

Le chemin du Tacot

Departure from Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye (58 - Nièvre)

A rather short bucolic walk.
Le Tacot path passes nearby the ochre and clay quarries where a protected species of toad "Le sonneur à ventre jaune", the yellow bellied toad hides away. Easily identified thanks to its yellow and black striped belly, and its heart-shaped pupils, no doubt, remnants of its prince charming days..... Its bright yellow colour, signifying toxicity is a means of protection against its predators.
